Narcotic cough syrup Escaf worth around 10 lakh rupees seized at the Assam-Tripura border on the way into the state. The container vehicle was seized and the driver was arrested.

On Sunday, when a container vehicle arrived at Naka Point of Churaibari Watch Post in Assam’s Karimganj district, the Assam Police on duty stopped the vehicle.

Then, the Assam Police recovered twelve cartoon Nesha national cough syrup scarves hidden behind various retail products of transport stored inside the container car.
Gulfan Ali, the driver of the car, was also arrested. His home is said to be in Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Assam Police said that a total of 1920 bottles of Escaf cough syrup were recovered in twelve cartons. The black market value of the seized items is around ten lakh rupees..

The Assam Police has taken up a case under the NDPS section and started an investigation.
