The alarming reality of drug abuse in the heart of the capital has once again come to the fore following the death of a young man. Mithun Das, a resident of Pratapnagar, was found dead on Tuesday beside a drain adjacent to a nursing home in the Shibnagar area.
Locals allege that he had long been addicted to various synthetic substances—including Escap syrup, injectable narcotics, and Yaba—and had been unwell for several days. Upon receiving the report, a Fire Service team and police personnel from the Maharajganj Police Station arrived at the scene.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that his death may have resulted from physical deterioration caused by excessive drug consumption.
However, to thoroughly examine the entire matter, a case of unnatural death has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated. This incident has sparked renewed concern within the locality regarding the severity of the drug problem.
