In Canada, federal officials warn that wildfire activity will likely remain high through summer and into fall, particularly in the Prairies and East Coast, due to persistent hot, dry conditions.
Emergency Management Minister Eleanor Olszewski stated that the 2025 wildfire season is Canada’s second-worst on record, with over 78,000 square kms burned—an area larger than New Brunswick and more than double the 10-year average.
