AGARTALA — Speaker Rampada Jamatia today expelled Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman from the Tripura Legislative Assembly for the entire day for violating the house code of conduct and allegedly using obscene language directed at the Chair.
Following the Q&A session, MLA Sudip Roy Barman raised the issue regarding the death of late DGP Anurag during Zero Hour. Because the matter had already been discussed twice before, Speaker Jamatia declined to allow a third discussion.
In response to the denial, opposition MLAs from the Congress and CPI(M) staged a demonstration, entering the well of the House to protest.
Despite warnings from the Chair that assembly proceedings would continue, the opposition maintained their protest, leading the Speaker to issue the expulsion order. Following the disciplinary action, Congress and CPI(M) MLAs walked out of the session in protest.
