Agartala, June 30, 2025:
A mysterious death inside the Bishalgarh Central Jail on Monday morning has triggered unrest and protests. The deceased has been identified as Kailash Roy, a resident of the Khejur Bagan area in Agartala.

Confusion prevails over the circumstances leading to his sudden death. Tensions escalated when family members of Kailash Roy staged a demonstration at the NCC police station premises, alleging negligence and injustice on the part of the authorities.

According to the family, a case was initially registered against Kailash Roy’s son for allegedly tearing up a court summons. As the son went into hiding, the police reportedly arrested Kailash Roy in his place. Even after the son later surrendered, Kailash Roy was neither released nor granted bail. Instead, he was first taken into police custody and subsequently remanded to jail.

Tragically, he died this morning. The family has alleged that Kailash Roy was an innocent man who was wrongfully jailed and became a victim of police negligence.

Demanding justice, the aggrieved family members and locals gathered at the NCC police station, calling for a thorough investigation into the incident and strict action against the responsible officers.

The administration is yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of death or the family’s allegations. Tension continues to prevail in the area.
