Agartala, June 30: A serious allegation of ragging has surfaced at the hostel of Umakanta Academy, where two students were reportedly subjected to physical and mental abuse. Acting swiftly on the information, Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma rushed to the spot on Sunday.
The minister convened an urgent meeting with the school authorities, hostel superintendent, teachers, and students to take stock of the situation. Expressing deep concern over the incident, Minister Debbarma assured that strict administrative and legal action would be taken against those found guilty.
He also issued a stern warning to the hostel authorities and instructed them to immediately implement a stringent monitoring system to prevent any recurrence of ragging in the institution. The incident has sparked concern among parents and the local community, with demands for ensuring the safety and well-being of students residing in hostels.
