PM Modi To Inaugurate 524-Year-Old Tripura Sundari Temple After Grand Redevelopment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the newly redeveloped Tripura Sundari temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas worshipped by Hindus in southern Tripura’s Udaipur, on September 22, officials said here on Sunday.

The schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura has not yet been finalised, though September 22 has been kept as a tentative date for inaugurating the redeveloped Tripura Sundari temple at Udaipur.

Senior officials, including Director General of Police Anurag, visited Gomati district headquarters in Udaipur on Saturday to supervise possible arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Chief Minister Saha had earlier invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate the redeveloped temple, located 65 km south of Agartala.

According to officials, the 524-year-old Tripura Sundari temple has been redeveloped under the Union Tourism Ministry’s PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme at a cost of over ₹52 crore, with the state government contributing an additional ₹7 crore.

Located in southern Tripura’s Gomati district, the Tripura Sundari temple is regarded as an iconic symbol of the state’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
