Belonia: A teacher from Belonia has fallen prey to a cybercrime scam, losing a total of Rs 56,176 from her bank account. The incident took place in the Shaltila area under Bilonia police station.
According to reports, Deepti Malla, a teacher at Belonia BKI School, received a phone call from an unknown number instructing her to download a mobile application. Following the caller’s directions, she complied. Soon after, she received a message on her phone confirming that Rs 56,176 had been withdrawn from her account in two phases.
Upon realising the fraud, Malla immediately informed the Belonia police station, her bank, and the cybercrime office. She later spoke to the media, warning others about the dangers of sharing personal documents online.
A case has been registered at Belonia police station. Malla has appealed for a fair investigation and justice in the matter.
