Road Blockade in Amtali–Golaghati After Clash During TTAADC Polls

Agartala, April 14: Tension prevailed in the 19-Amtali–Golaghati constituency after supporters of the Tipra Motha party staged a road blockade at Belowarchar market on Monday, alleging violence during the ADC elections.

According to reports, the protest was led by Tipra Motha workers from Dayal Para following allegations of bomb blasts and gunfire during a clash between Tipra Motha and BJP supporters at Booth No. 40 in the area.

The protesters demanded that local MLA and Mandal Vice-President Mahamaya Debbarma visit the spot, warning that the blockade would continue until their demand was met.
On receiving information about the obstruction, police from Kalamchoura police station rushed to the scene and initiated discussions with the protesters.

The police assured them that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the alleged incident and appropriate legal action would be taken against those found responsible.

Following the assurance from the police, the protesters withdrew the road blockade and normal traffic resumed.
The incident has drawn criticism from several residents of the locality, who questioned why the general public should face inconvenience and harassment due to such protests.
