Dharmanagar, Nov 6: A large consignment of Yaba tablets and a huge amount of cash were seized once again in Dharmanagar late Wednesday night. The Dharmanagar police achieved this success during a special search operation conducted at Anandabazar Naka point on the Dharmanagar–Kailasahar road.
During the operation, the police intercepted a suspicious motorbike and recovered 2,000 banned Yaba tablets packed in 10 packets along with ₹3.5 lakh in cash. Two youths were arrested from the spot. They have been identified as Chunar Ali and Fajr Ali.
Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, Mina Debbarma, said the estimated black-market value of the seized Yaba tablets is around ₹3 lakh. According to preliminary police investigation, the narcotics were likely being transported for smuggling purposes.
A case has been registered against the arrested individuals under the Narcotics Control Act, and further investigation is underway.
