Agartala, Sunday: The national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year, presented in Parliament, has drawn sharp criticism from opposition leaders in the state, who termed it disappointing and anti-people.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman claimed that allocations for key sectors have been reduced in the current budget.
He alleged that funding has been cut in areas such as health, education, social welfare, and scholarships meant for SC, ST, and OBC communities.
The budget has triggered political debate across party lines, with opposition leaders questioning its priorities while the ruling side maintains that it is development-oriented.
