Agartala, Sunday: The national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year, presented in Parliament, has drawn sharp criticism from opposition leaders in the state, who termed it disappointing and anti-people.
CPM State Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury said the budget offers nothing new for the working class. Speaking to journalists on Sunday, he alleged that although attractive promises are made every year, the reality remains unchanged.
“This budget is anti-people and disappointing. It reflects that the country’s economy is moving backward,” Chowdhury said, adding that the concerns of ordinary citizens have been ignored.
