PMAY houses demolition in Tripura triggers fresh road blockades; anti-Bengali notes spark tension in Khowai

A group of miscreants demolished about 14 under-construction government houses by writing the words “WANSEA GET OUT, RED ZONE” on the road in the darkness of the Friday night in Kalai Para, North Brahmachara under Teliamura R.D Block area.


These demolished houses marked by miscreants in the respective area. The people of the Bengali part of the area witnessed this incident the next morning on Saturday.


After witnessing this incident, Bengali residents of the local area blocked the Brahmachara-Kankrachara road from 9 am on Saturday by cutting and placing logs over the road.

The victims and locals complained that the miscreants had committed such an incident because of the comments of a leader of the Tipra Motha party.


MLA and minister of the area Bikas Debbarma spoke to the protestors on mobile and assured that a security checkpoint would be set up in the area on Saturday.


After receiving this assurance from the minister, the local people lifted the siege by 11 am.
