The capital city of Tripura is witnessing growing discontent over the ongoing Smart City development projects, which many residents say have caused more inconvenience than improvement.

With roads dug up, drainage repairs left incomplete, and traffic snarls becoming routine, commuting within the city has turned into a daily ordeal. A journey that earlier took ten minutes now often stretches to an hour.

The frustration is not confined to the general public alone.

Social Media criticism reflects the growing impatience among citizens as the much-touted Smart City mission faces mounting scrutiny for its execution.

The capital city faced severe traffic jams for hours every day  as ongoing Smart City works continued to disrupt road connectivity and traffic management.

Several key roads remained closed due to incomplete construction and repair activities, forcing commuters to take longer routes. Despite fewer vehicles on the streets, the absence of proper traffic regulation led to long snarls at major junctions.

Residents complained that daily travel within the city has become increasingly difficult, with no clear timeline for the completion of projects. Many expressed frustration, saying that the so-called Smart City initiative has instead made Agartala’s roads chaotic.

Citizens have urged authorities to expedite the pending works and implement proper traffic management measures to ease the suffering of daily commuters.
