On 14th September 2025, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu said that team sports symbolize unity and collective spirit among players and the public. He added that through the Khelo India programme, the Central Government is working to revive different sports across the country and encourage the youth to actively participate.
The initiative to promote rural sports has already achieved significant success. The Governor was speaking at on September 14 the closing ceremony of the Kumarghat Football Tournament held at the PWD Ground, Kumarghat.
He noted that football is particularly popular in India’s northeastern states. In the final match, Dristi Foundation and Ranjo Club competed against each other.
The closing ceremony was also addressed by ML.A Bhagaban Chandra Das, Unakoti Zila Parishad Sabhadhipati Amlendu Das, Kumarghat BAC Chairman Taranjoy Reang, District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumdar, and Unakoti SP Sudhambika R. Following the football tournament, the Governor visited the Bhabatarini Temple, accompanied by MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das, the District Magistrate, and the Superintendent of Police.
