AGARTALA — A sensation prevailed on the Agartala court premises after an accused in a theft case attempted to escape from police custody by throwing dust into the eyes of the police personnel on duty.

The accused, who was recently arrested on theft charges, was brought to the Agartala court to be produced before the judicial magistrate. Upon arrival at the court premises, he seized an opportunity to throw dust at the accompanying officers and fled, triggering immediate chaos among the police detail.

Following the sudden escape, police personnel launched a widespread search in and around the surrounding areas. After approximately an hour of intensive searching in various directions, officers successfully located and re-arrested the fleeing suspect. He has since been safely taken back into police custody.
