As per the Press Release issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Agartala Centre, the active monsoon conditions coupled with significant moisture incursion have led to widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tripura on 31st May and 1st June 2025.
In light of the prevailing and forecasted weather conditions, a Red Alert has been issued to all districts indicating a high likelihood of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in some places for today and tomorrow. Honourable Chief Minister is regularly reviewing the situation. Revenue Secretary is in touch with all the DMs. The DMs have taken all possible preparatory measures to tackle any situation.

- Rescue and Relief Operations: Total 14 rescue teams have been deployed at different places in West Tripura and Unakoti Districts. (West Tripura-11 : NDRF-2, SDRF-3, Assam Rifles-1, Fire & Emergency Services-1, Civil Defence/ Aapda Mitra/ Bharat Scouts and Guides-4; Unakoti-3 : NDRF -1, Civil Defence/ Aapda Mitra Volunteers-2).
- A total of 60 relief camps (West Tripura – 48, Khowai-3, Unakoti-3, North Tripura-6) have been opened across affected districts, sheltering around 2,800 families and around 10,600 inmates.
- Infrastructure and Access: Several roads were temporarily blocked due to fallen trees and landslides in North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, and West Tripura Districts. Swift action by Community Volunteers, SDRF, Forest Department, PWD, and Quick Response Teams led to the clearance of many routes. The teams are continuing their services as and when required.
- Housing Damage: Preliminary data reports, total 201 houses damaged including 92 house severely damaged and 109 houses partly damaged, primarily in Gomati, Khowai, Sepahijala and North Tripura Districts. Detailed damage assessment is going on.
- River Conditions: The Howrah River level at Agartala was 10.91 meters at 5 PM, which is above the danger level. However, It has remained stagnant since morning and now has started receding trend for last one hour. Authorities are closely monitoring river levels to take necessary preventive measures.
- In view of the severity of the situation, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Tripura accompanied by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, the Secretary, Revenue, the DM & Collector and SP of West Tripura, and other senior officials today afternoon, conducted a visit to the flood-affected areas and relief camps at Chandrapur, Pratapgarh English Medium School, Vivekananda School, and Pragati School, Tulsibati School and B. R. Ambedkar School.
- During the visit, the Hon’ble Chief Minister interacted with the affected residents and relief camp inmates, listened to their concerns, and reassured them of the Government’s full support and commitment to providing all necessary assistance and timely relief measures.
- Agartala storm water management: There are 17 pump houses in Agartala draining city storm water in Howrah and Katakhal rivers. Yesterday, there was high precipitation recorded in just 2 hrs, as a result there is water stagnation but it gets resolved in 2-3 hours.
- Public Advisory: Citizens are advised not to be panic, avoid venturing near rivers and low-lying areas and follow advisories of local administrations wherever evacuations are ordered.
