The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to open its first hospital, marking a significant milestone for the city. The project endorsed by Tripura government will be located in the old municipal building near Jackson Gate.
The 24,000-square-foot facility, with 80% of construction completed, will feature 50 beds and offer free treatment and medicines, along with ambulance services across all 51 wards of Agartala.
Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Municipal Commissioner Shailesh Yadav, and the Director of National Health Mission visited the site to finalize the plans.
AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said, “The new hospital, set to be inaugurated on August 15 by Chief Minister Manik Saha, will initially receive doctors, nurses, and financial backing from the state government for two years. After this period, the AMC will manage it independently, with plans for future expansion to address growing needs.”
He added, “The hospital, housed in the old municipal building near Jackson Gate, will feature 50 beds and provide free treatment, medicines, and ambulance services to all 51 wards of Agartala.
The hospital will complement existing major state hospitals and enhance local medical facilities.
